Getting someone out of the Palm Beach County Jail sounds complicated when you’ve never done it. It isn’t. Here’s the whole thing, step by step.
Step 1: The arrest and booking
Your person is taken to the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center on Gun Club Road and booked — fingerprints, photo, and paperwork. This takes a few hours.
Step 2: Bail is set
For many charges there’s a standard bond schedule, so bail is set fairly quickly. For more serious charges, a judge sets it at a first appearance hearing, usually within 24 hours.
Step 3: You call a bondsman
Instead of paying the full bail in cash, you call a licensed bail bondsman. You pay 10% (Florida’s set rate), and the bondsman posts the full amount with the court on your behalf.
Step 4: Paperwork and payment
You’ll sign as the indemnitor (the person responsible for making sure the defendant shows up to court). Bring a photo ID. If money’s tight, this is when you set up a payment plan — we do no money down and payments as low as $50 a month.
Step 5: The bond is posted
Once we post the bond, the jail begins the release process. At the Palm Beach County Jail, release usually takes six to twelve hours depending on how busy they are. Nights and weekends can run slower.
Step 6: Show up to court
After release, your person must attend every court date. Do that, and the bond is settled when the case ends. Miss one, and the bond can be revoked.
